The man who married himself by
Charlie Fish is literally what the title says it is. We can see the story of a
man who wants to marry himself because he thinks that the perfect couple or
partner for him is himself. By reading the story you can see different things
that are “weird” or not normal in today's society for example the reverend with
the dog. There are a lot of different mentalities and everybody had a way of
seeing things. He had to take several decisions and that’s what I'm am going to be discussing.
The first decision that he had to
make was if he really wanted to marry himself. At first it seems like a joke
that someone is making to make a point or something but in this case it was
different, he really thought it was a perfect idea marrying himself. Why? You
may asking well he said that he was the perfect person for example he said:
Once I convinced the good reverend to let me marry the man of my dreams. When
he finished convincing and planning everything he married himself and at first
it was perfect but then he started asking if he really did a good decision by
marrying himself it was not like he expected. Then the second decision came it
was to divorce the problem was he had to do something so he could do that so he
decided to have a sex with a Malaysian girl so he could divorce. At the end he
found the love of his live and had a family.
For me he discovers that in life
sometimes we make decisions that in the moment are the best option but at the
end you discover that it was a huge mistake. In the world are people that don't
need a partner or couple in their life to be happy but in this case he had
taken that to a new level by making himself the perfect couple for himself. I
think it was not a good decision he made because it was time consuming and a
waste of time because he could live with himself and he could be loyal to
himself if he wants without getting married. I think that he made this so we
could take this and use it more in general in things that are happening in the
world right now.
